What is Whisky Bletherin?

Whisky Bletherin is a members’ whisky club built around great drams, great stories, and good company. We host ten members-only tasting nights each year, led by distilleries and independent bottlers in the Foghouse Tasting Room.

How much does membership cost?

Membership is £60 per year.

What’s included with membership?

Your membership includes access to up to 10 members-only tasting nights per year. Each tasting is hosted by a distillery or independent bottler, with whisky supplied/sponsored by the host. Events are limited to around 40 places, so booking is required.

Do I need to book for each tasting night?

Yes. Pre-booking is required for every tasting because spaces are limited. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I find out about events?

Event listings will be emailed to members, and available to view on the website. Once our membership has been emailed out for 24 hours, it will be released to our Facebook page.

How do I book an event?

We will email you when an event becomes available to book, approximately one month before the date of the event. These will be accessible to members only, so be logged in via your email address.

How do I become a member?

Your membership begins when you complete membership checkout. We will then send you an account invite, if you have not already got one, and you will be added to our list of members who have exclusive access to booking events.

What happens if a tasting sells out?

If an event sells out, we run a waiting list. If spaces become available due to cancellations, they’ll be offered to the waiting list in order.

What if I can’t attend a tasting I’ve booked?

If you can’t attend, please cancel as early as possible so another member can take your place. Missed tastings can’t be carried over, exchanged, or refunded.

How many drams will be served at each tasting?

This varies depending on the host and theme, but each night includes a guided tasting of multiple whiskies, plus time for questions and a proper blether.

Who supplies the whisky for the tastings?

Each tasting is hosted by a distillery or independent bottler, and the whisky is provided/sponsored by the host.

Where do the tastings take place?

All tastings take place in the Foghouse Tasting Room in Inverurie.

What is the Christmas Night?

The Christmas Night is a special end-of-year celebration with extra treats in the glass. It is ticketed separately and is not included in the annual membership. Details and pricing will be announced closer to the date.

Can I bring a guest?

Whisky Bletherin tastings are members-only unless clearly stated otherwise for special events.

Is membership refundable or transferable?

No. Membership is non-refundable once activated and non-transferable. Members must be 18+ years of age.

How long does membership last?

Membership lasts 12 months from the date you join (unless otherwise stated at launch). We’ll contact you before renewal is due.

Whisky Bletherin & The YouTube Live Blether

Do you have an online whisky community too?

Yes! Alongside our in-person tastings, we host a weekly YouTube live chat every Thursday night featuring guests from across the whisky world. It’s a relaxed, interactive session where you can ask questions, hear stories from industry figures, and join the conversation from anywhere.

Is the Thursday YouTube live chat included with membership?

The YouTube live chat is open to everyone. Whisky Bletherin members will also receive early notice of upcoming guests, themes, and any club-related announcements shared during the live sessions.

Will YouTube guests ever appear in person at Whisky Bletherin events?

Whenever possible, we’ll try to bring some of our online guests into the Foghouse Tasting Room for special nights. These will be announced to members in advance and may be ticketed separately depending on the format and whisky line-up.

How do I find the Thursday live chat?

We’ll share the YouTube link on our website and social channels each week. Members will also receive the link by email ahead of time.

What is a Foghouse?

Taking our inspiration from the Foghouses found on large Scottish estates; sanctuaries to escape the ordinary; to savour a view, to contemplate or to unwind.

  • Our inspirational Foghouse
  • Our Inspirational Foghouse & Waterfall

These traditional Scottish sanctuaries were built by Lairds to frame their favourite view on the estate. The Lairds would then cover the ground with a moss, known as Fog in Scots, to create a carpeted layer to relax in comfort. They would escape to these secluded retreats to relax in the natural beauty of their surroundings, far away from the rigours of daily life. They are a serene place of peace, somewhere to contemplate and unwind far away from the pace of a hectic world.

To us, a Foghouse is a moment captured in time; evoking memories of your greatest adventure, a breath-taking vista or day never to be forgotten.
