Terms & Conditions

By joining The Bletherin’, the whisky club operated by The Foghouse, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Definitions

  • “The Club” refers to The Bletherin’ – The Foghouse Whisky Club.

  • “We”, “Us”, “Our” refers to The Foghouse and its operators.

  • “Member” refers to any individual accepted into The Club.

  • “Premises” refers to The Foghouse whisky bar and any associated venues.

2. Eligibility & Membership

  • Membership is strictly limited to persons aged 18 or over.

  • Proof of age may be required at any event.

  • We reserve the right to refuse or revoke membership at our discretion.

3. Membership Fees

  • Membership fees (if applicable) are payable in advance.

  • Fees are non-refundable, except where required by law.

  • Membership benefits have no cash alternative.

  • Prices may change for future membership periods, but existing members will be notified in advance.

4. Membership Term

  • Membership runs for the period stated at the time of joining (e.g. annual).

  • Membership does not automatically renew unless explicitly stated.

  • Lapsed memberships may require reapplication.

5. Events & Tastings

  • Club events are subject to availability and may have limited spaces.

  • Booking may be required for specific events.

  • Tastings may include alcohol; Members are expected to drink responsibly.

  • We reserve the right to substitute whiskies where availability changes.

  • Event dates, times, or content may be altered where necessary.

6. Responsible Drinking

  • The Foghouse promotes responsible enjoyment of alcohol.

  • We reserve the right to refuse service or remove any Member who is intoxicated, disruptive, or behaving irresponsibly.

  • Members are responsible for arranging safe transport home.

7. Member Conduct

Members must:

  • Treat staff, guests, and fellow Members with respect.

  • Follow all venue rules and licensing laws.

  • Not resell, transfer, or misuse Club benefits.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership without refund for misconduct.

8. Guests

  • Guest policies (if allowed) will be stated per event.

  • Guests must also be over 18 and comply with these Terms.

  • Members are responsible for their guests’ behaviour.

9. Whisky Availability

  • Limited or exclusive whiskies are offered subject to availability.

  • We cannot guarantee repeat availability of any whisky.

  • Bottle allocations, purchase limits, or tasting measures may apply.

10. Cancellations & Changes

  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule events due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • Where an event is cancelled by us, reasonable alternatives or refunds may be offered at our discretion.

  • No refunds are given for non-attendance unless otherwise stated.

11. Health & Allergies

  • Members must inform us of any relevant allergies where appropriate.

  • We cannot guarantee allergen-free environments.

  • Participation in tastings is entirely at the Member’s own risk.

12. Photography & Media

  • Events may be photographed or recorded for promotional purposes.

  • By attending, you consent to reasonable use of images unless you notify us otherwise in advance.

13. Data Protection & Privacy

  • Personal data will be handled in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

  • We will not sell your data to third parties.

  • Members may unsubscribe from communications at any time.

14. Liability

  • We are not responsible for loss, damage, or injury except where caused by our negligence or where liability cannot be excluded by law.

  • Personal belongings are brought onto the Premises at the Member’s own risk.

15. Amendments

  • We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

  • Members will be notified of material changes.

  • Continued membership constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

16. Governing Law

  • These Terms & Conditions are governed by Scottish law.

  • Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

What is a Foghouse?


Taking our inspiration from the Foghouses found on large Scottish estates; sanctuaries to escape the ordinary; to savour a view, to contemplate or to unwind.

These traditional Scottish sanctuaries were built by Lairds to frame their favourite view on the estate. The Lairds would then cover the ground with a moss, known as Fog in Scots, to create a carpeted layer to relax in comfort. They would escape to these secluded retreats to relax in the natural beauty of their surroundings, far away from the rigours of daily life. They are a serene place of peace, somewhere to contemplate and unwind far away from the pace of a hectic world.

To us, a Foghouse is a moment captured in time; evoking memories of your greatest adventure, a breath-taking vista or day never to be forgotten.
